Abstract

This interview with John Holloway was conceived as a recognition of the legacy of Simon Clarke, whose contribution to the critique of political economy covered a range of topics, including his critical studies of structuralism, fractionalism, monetarism and, of course, the State. Both Simon Clarke and John Holloway were members of the Conference of Socialist Economists (CSE) and took part in the debates on the State that took place in the United Kingdom during the 1970s. This interview seeks to shed light on the historical context from which Simon Clarke’s work emerged and to present the contemporary relevance of his critique.
