The paper describes the consequences for Argentine society of the impunity laws, which prevented the trial of military officers and public officials involved in the annihilation and genocide carried out during the 1976-1983 military dictatorship, and the systematic efforts of human rights organizations to obtain their repeal and to vindicate the political struggle of the disappeared. It is an unfinished struggle, on which the US-led “war on terrorism” has imposed a pause.
