Yum Kimil camina entre nosotros. Sociedad, Estado y violencia en México is a book that analyzes violence in Mexico as a multidimensional phenomenon, linking it to capitalist modernity and state domination in Latin America. From the introduction onward, Leonardo Herrera Mejía and Carlos Figueroa Ibarra take Yum Kimil, the Maya deity of death, as their point of departure to symbolize the omnipresence of violence in the country. Building on this metaphor, the authors question the possibility of its eradication and propose an epistemological analysis that explores its systemic roots.
