Abstract

John Holloway is an important representative of the school of Open Marxism; as such, his academic thought has been influenced by the development of the times and the development of the history of thought. Professor Sun Liang’s Rethinking the Identity of the Logic of Capital not only provides a comprehensive presentation of the historical context, intellectual precedents, methodological basis, major insights and major influences of Holloway’s thought, but also performs a comparative study of Holloway and scholars such as Antonio Negri. This paper is a pioneering presentation of Professor Holloway’s scholarly thought to the Marxist academic community in China. In my view, Professor Sun Liang’s reading of Holloway’s writings is non-identical and his work Rethinking the Identity of the Logic of Capital constitutes an additional and valuable bridge in the dialogue between Marxist circles in China and abroad.
