From the struggle of the Yaqui people against the construction of the Independencia Aqueduct to the tireless protest of the Mazahua Indigenous people against the Cutzamala system in the Toluca Valley; from the fight of the Indigenous and mestizo communities of Guerrero to stop the construction of the La Parota hydroelectric dam to the conflicts over the El Zapotillo dam in Los Altos de Jalisco, by way of a multiplicity of local processes of resistance against the devastating advance of mining, hydrocarbon, road, tourism and agro-industrial megaprojects, the defense of water has become a central and articulating axis of many of the struggles unfolding today throughout the national territory.
