This brief article reflects on the notion of the subaltern subject and some of its aspects, especially those that can outline the subaltern’s own story, that is to say, an alternative narrative in which the subaltern is not an object and is therefore not denied a voice. Firstly, the article examines a politicized otherness and its possibilities, as part of a discontinued history. Added to this, power is analyzed as a form of social violence, which means it is an implicit characteristic of a State that has objectified and annihilated the subaltern throughout History, an oppression the subaltern has resisted. The article concludes by raising questions about the subaltern and its voice in the Western world. As necropower strengthens its grip, the article seeks to explore new subjectivities, built on eternal voices that are constantly renewed, in order to conclude that both resistance and culture create key spaces for present and future struggles to flourish.
