Introduction

Abstract

This issue of Bajo el Volcán brings together articles concerned with understanding some facets of contemporary capitalism, proposing critical approaches to analysis and presenting case studies related to the urban context. The first part offers two theoretical contributions for developing a critical understanding of contemporary capitalist forms; the second contains case studies on the city that show the transformations of urban space caused by urbanization processes in the so-called neoliberal era; the final part presents reviews of three recent books by authors from the Graduate Program in Sociology.
