In this article, we analyze the interventions in the public space carried out by women in August 2019 in Mexico City. Faced with the excessive increase in gender violence, hundreds of women took to the streets to demonstrate and their demands materialized in graffiti and graffiti on the Angel of Independence and surrounding streets, giving rise to the “Revolución de la Diamantina”, demonstrations that protested against the lack of security experienced by women in the country and the lack of justice. Using two works of art that portray the Revolución de la Diamantina, we propose a reading of the implications of the interventions on the monument, which were quickly erased by the capital authorities, and explore the similarities it shares with the archive.
