This issue was conceived at a time when it was unimaginable that a virus would spread and lead us into a planetary state of emergency with the declaration of a quarantine period and, with it, to the abrupt alteration of the course of our lives and their predictability. The uncertainty into which this pandemic has plunged us has opened up interesting processes of reflection on human and non-human life and on the possible and desirable ways of guaranteeing its continuity. The question about the meanings of critical thought in times of civilizational crisis, with which contributions to this dossier were invited, is revitalized today more than ever, given the urgency of understanding a world shaken to its most intimate foundations and of broadening the dialogue between diverse epistemic and political productions that go beyond the circuits of “expert” knowledge and the vital and singular experiences of reproduction in and from the territories we inhabit.
