This book is at once a map and a compass. A map, because it charts the many grievances suffered by peasant communities across the country, as well as their resistance, all within a context of neoliberal regulation that has unleashed a great deal of violence. A compass, because it offers numerous analytical coordinates that keep us from getting lost in the attempt to understand how this machine of grievances and violence called free trade works, how it is expressed in our lives and who is responsible, but also what peoples are doing to defend themselves.
