Abstract

This article discusses the concept of civil society as an aspect of the scheme of power and hegemony. It is argued that the historical conditions responsible for the concept´s current popularity have to do with the phenomenon of class decadence. Moreover, the article outlines a critical conception of civil society taking off from a radical and negative theory of the subject.
