Abstract

The cult of the Holy Death is not a devotion to death as a linear horizon, but paradoxically, it is a cult of life. A believing overflow that reveals the historical conditions of accumulation and plunder in the capital, patriarchal and colonial modernity. The religious practice of the “Niña Blanca” unfolds a process that thinks from, beyond and against the death banalized, invisibilized, naturalized, and bureaucratised by the techniques of the market. It is a story that specifically refers to the present of people who have deployed in their experiences hope against the institutionalized form of socially conceptualizing death and capitalism as a religion.
