Abstract

The following text gathers my remarks at the presentation of the book in Bilbao (Spain) on December 12, 2022. The work I have the pleasure of presenting today is a devastating piece of investigative journalism about a company that—and I quote verbatim—“has made abuse—of competitors, customers and States—a market strategy.” In this new report, Oriol Malló recounts Iberdrola’s breakneck journey from the electro-Francoism of regional monopolies to the stardom of green capitalism “at its finest,” thanks to privatization in stages and the reconquest of America promoted by the two major parties of the elite consensus of the Transition, to which the EAJ-PNV clung tooth and nail, to form that “monarchy of colluders and sewers called the Kingdom of Spain.”
