Abstract

The article proposes a synthetic definition of globalization. It adopts a criterion of periodization based on the dynamic of accumulation understood in terms of the crisis and restructuring of capital and labor as expressions of the great wares of class struggle. It argues that globalization is a result of the lost ware, that it was extended throughout the world during the decades of the sixties and seventies, and of the resulting crisis of world capitalism, but that it also becomes a response of capital to the crisis. Finally, the essay proposes the notion of a “center-in-crisis of money-capital” in order to understand today’s antagonism between capital and labor.
