Raúl Zibechi’s book Brasil Potencia: entre la integración regional y un nuevo imperialismo offers an in-depth analysis of Brazilian imperialism from within, revealing its strategy of becoming a power in light of the remarkable economic growth experienced since the Lula government and of its insertion into world politics and the global economy as a global power. Although this shift towards different topics shows us a new Zibechi, concerned with analyzing at close range the new Latin American imperialist enemy, I believe it is important to offer a series of reflections on the book, which in my view is very useful for scholars of integration and of South-South cooperation, in a reality subject to political and economic reconfiguration on a world scale.
