I begin with the dedication Raúl writes on page 24 of the book, at the end of the introduction, because I feel it expresses exactly what we have learned to expect from him: “This book is dedicated to the new that is being born in Latin America, to all those movements and acts of rebellion against the new forms of oppression such as mining, monocultures, large dams... and the new imperialisms”. It is a starting point that I fully share and that I imagine all of us here share. We therefore dedicate this discussion to the new that is being born. We place rebellion, nonconformity, rupture and the birth of a new otherness at the center, and we say that we must think about our scientific work from there.
