Introduction to issue 16 of Bajo el Volcán, which gives a prominent place to reflection on what Independence (1810) and the Revolution (1910), as culminating points of Mexican modernity, mean for understanding the official celebrations of the bicentennial and centennial. It also includes a critical theory section on labor and dignity, studies on work, social representations and collective violence in Latin America, a tribute to Pedro F.
