Achieving life projects in contexts violated by poverty is an accomplishment. However, despite the disappointing contexts surrounding the indigenous population and permanent risk factors they are exposed to, a large majority of these young people are able to develop broad competencies which allow them to build their life projects. Which school life factors favored in the young indigenous people the choices and consolidation of their life projects? This study shows that in addition to the university pathways, young men and women opt for other pathways of local professionalization, breaking several paradigms, including the one that means that school is the only means of professionalization.
