The metaphor of a society that punishes itself: On the armed conflict and its consequences

Guatemalan society is emerging from more than three decades of horror, in which acts of infamous cruelty were committed that shame the national and international conscience. Tens of thousands of dead who were not war casualties: civilians far from the line of fire who belonged to the part of Guatemalan society that fell under suspicion because the other part distrusted, watched and denounced them. The article reflects on the armed conflict and its consequences.
