Abstract

In the preface to the English edition of Homo Hierarchicus, Louis Dumont notes that certain misunderstandings of his work seem attributable to “the powerful influence of our ideals and values on the construction of our representations”. Starting from this warning, the author reflects on the work of Mario Payeras and his view of the Indigenous world and nature in Guatemala.
