Introduction to issue 20 of Bajo el Volcán. Forty-two years after La revolución interrumpida, the issue brings together for the first time, under the title “Mario Payeras: memory and revolution”, three texts by Adolfo Gilly on the Guatemalan guerrilla commander, exploring the ethical dimension of his thought and the violence of the Guatemalan State in the last stage of the Cold War. They are followed by works on the phenomenology of social action, the Vatican State, critical thought and violence, the Idle No More Indigenous movement in Canada, academic rankings, patrimonialism and social struggle in Puebla, and a critical review.
