A review of Raúl Zibechi’s Autonomías y emancipaciones: América Latina en movimiento. The geopolitical impact of Latin American social movements over the last twenty years has been considerable, not only because of the number of articles and books published on them, but also because of the theoretical and practical debate they have sparked. At times, readings of Latin America mechanically apply theories or concepts that do not fit the region’s reality, whether because of a Eurocentrism we have not yet overcome, academic fashions or simple intellectual laziness.
