Two Mexicos: Some reflections on the country’s current crisis. Problems and circumstances

Abstract

A humanistic essay stemming from a critical analysis of Mexico’s present-day major crises (four of them are particularly emphasized: effective representation, insecurity, corruption, societal division), all of which together finally aggravate the overwhelming deficiency in federal governance. Such crises were initially formulated by a group of intellectuals at Colegio de México (2006); the author reflects upon their origins and peculiarities as well as their implications for the welfare of the national society, present and future. Perhaps ambitiously, the reflexive impetus is projected against the original trends (circular and linear) of the mythical origins of man’s history.
