This article reproduces a paper presented at the Conference on the Global Crisis held on March 21 in Berlin, organized by the German Left Party. It first discusses the origins and dynamics of the current crisis, and then explores the possibilities of a strategy for the global left capable of responding to the present crisis in the context of the challenges posed by both the technocratic capitalist center and the populist capitalist right, all within the framework of a global depression that could last many years.
