A review of Luis Martínez Andrade’s Religión sin redención. Contradicciones sociales y sueños despiertos en América Latina (Ediciones de Medianoche-Universidad de Zacatecas, 2011), with a prologue by Renán Vega Cantor. The reviewer highlights the book’s roots in the rebellious origins of critical theory and the difficulties critical theory faces today in educational spaces disenchanted by market fashions and by the empiricist, positivist truths of neoliberal market democracy.
