On August 25, 2012, the Spanish Marxist philosopher Francisco Fernández Buey, known to his friends simply as Paco, passed away. Bajo el Volcán cannot let this sad news pass and through these lines expresses its sorrow for such a painful loss. Paco Fernández Buey had contact with our university, and on one occasion we had the good fortune to hear him in the Salón Barroco of the Edificio Carolino. He maintained a constant relationship with the journal Dialéctica, another publication of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla.
