Foucault’s treatment of the question of war, with strikingly unclassifiable and powerfully suggestive ideas, describes a theoretical journey. He first seeks to give war a central place in order to leave behind the traditional matrix on which revolutionary thought has relied, and then abandons the very notion of war in order to understand power and resistance as governmentality and strategy.
