“Edufactory”: The casualization of knowledge production and alternatives

In the context of the recent strike by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana workers’ union in Mexico City, this article starts from the idea that the university is a “factory” for the production and dissemination of knowledge, in the process of being privatized, flexibilized and globalized according to the highest possible standards of efficiency and competitiveness, a rationality known as “academic capitalism”.
