A glimpse from the left at the problem of waste production

Abstract

This project approaches the issue of rubbish through a humanist reading of Marxism. It analyzes social relations of production with Marx, the ones appearing in his “Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy”. From this point of view, the conclusions are, firstly, that rubbish is the final product of social relations of production and not articles aimed at satisfying human needs and, secondly, that the problem of rubbish will not be solved in the context of capitalism. In order to solve it, we need a new way of comprehending the world, nature, human beings and the relation of the latter with the former.
