This article argues that the process of emancipation implies a transformation not only of time but also of space. Far from seeing the theme of freedom and space in terms of a common mode of regulation of something considered continuous and uniform (space), the article proposes the idea of a qualitative multiplicity as the form of spatialisation of the diverse human practices of freedom in an emancipated society. This multiplicity is flexible and is not a question of closed identities, but of communicative “thresholds” as forms of non-identitarian freedom.
