The text discusses the thesis, put forward by an observer of the national political scene, that the “social left” of Zapatismo and the “institutional left” of the PRD lost their way because of their lack of unity, which would have favored the advance of the right in Mexico in 2006. The author analyzes the position of the EZLN and the Other Campaign towards political parties and the reasons for the distance between the two lefts.
