Introduction
Keywords:
neoliberalism, Mexico, Oaxaca, left, Bajo el VolcánAbstract
With the publication of issue 11, Bajo el Volcán begins another year of existence and notes that 2006 was rich in events showing the crisis and exhaustion of neoliberalism, which promised economic growth, social welfare, political stability and democracy, with mediocre or null results. The issue brings together works on Mexican maize, racism and the super-exploitation of Indigenous day laborers, the post-electoral conjuncture and the Oaxaca conflict, the two Mexican lefts, emancipation and space, intellectual work in Latin America, Bolivia, and the politicization of sex work.
