In a context of war, the Zapatistas, in their struggle and their fury accumulated through betrayals, have matured their national and international conceptions and proposals for changing the world and the country. The Sixth Declaration of the Lacandon Jungle of June 2005, a search for oxygen against the “suicide” of local isolation, opened a possibility of breaking the ice around neoliberalism. The Sixth is an interpellation, a proposal not only of thought but also of organization of the space of political action. In the uniform landscape of traditional electoral politics, the Sixth is a fire revived by the wind from below.
