“Someone asks: are you still a Marxist? Never before has the devastation caused by the pursuit of profit, as defined by capitalism, been as extensive as it is today. Almost everyone knows this. How then is it possible to ignore Marx, who prophesied and analyzed such devastation? The answer would be that people, many people, have lost their political bearings. Without any map, they do not know where they are heading.” So writes John Berger in a recent text. From there, the author studies the Sixth Declaration of the Lacandon Jungle.
