When the red alert was issued on June 19, 2005, uncertainty was in the air. What had forced the EZLN to take that decision? Had the army surrounded or attacked them? Were they withdrawing to respond to an offensive? Some of us asked ourselves these questions while anxiously awaiting the next communiqué explaining what was really happening.
