Argentina’s new social movements propose new forms of work that go beyond their protest and mobilization actions, understood here as emerging from a broader activity of creating social bonds and organizations. The ventures undertaken by workers of recovered enterprises, organizations of the unemployed and neighborhood assemblies belong to what is increasingly called the “social economy”, a public space where work is not exchanged solely or mainly for monetary pay. Unlike earlier forms in this field, those promoted today by the movements acquire a political dimension: in these new forms, work is politics.
