Theory and praxis: The experience of Italian workerism

Abstract

The sixties and seventies were decades of the so-called “New Left”, of the diffusion –in the context of a torrent of social struggles– Marxist and Socialist heterodoxies; it was a crucial epoch,the analysis of which is indispensable for understanding the Left in the present: its miseries, wealth and potentialities. In those twenty years of light and shadow, of victories and defeats, there stood out in Italy a political experience that, in the best Marxist tradition, combined theory and praxis: workerism.
