This article indicates some of the principal directions that have lately been followed in order to examine the phenomenon of corruption and its connection with democracy. Despite the quantity of studies on this topic, the apparently natural links between corruption and democracy have been explored insufficiently, taking into account the absence of a minimal historical conception of corruption in the interior of the development of democratic regimes, at least since the second world war. Moreover, it proposes a theoretical variation that permits us to advance in the analysis of this pathology taking off from its relationship with democracy and with the increase or decrease of the so-called democratic quality.
