Abstract

Antonio Negri and Michael Hardt's Empire is an ambitious attempt to explore the new configuration of the capitalist system introduced by neo-liberal globalisation, and to re-pose the fundamental categories of the politics which we inherit from modernity. Does the book contribute to a better understanding of the present-day world? What implications does it have for the reconstruction of a radical theory of society? What is autonomist Marxism?
