Abstract

Introduction to the first issue of Bajo el Volcán, the journal of the Graduate Program in Sociology at the Instituto de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades, BUAP. The issue brings together works on memory and the subject, memory in social theory, the postwar period in El Salvador, violence and the culture of terror, work and citizenship in Latin America, the coloniality of power, critical theory, social systems and the ethics of liberation, as well as a historical document and two book reviews.
