For me the Institute is a very special place, not only because I work here or because my colleagues are very special, but also because its walls have a special resonance: they echo with memories. Memories of situations I may not have lived directly but which are very present: memories of the university struggles of the 1960s and 1970s in Puebla, struggles to create another kind of university in another kind of society, and memories brought to the Institute by many people who came as refugees from other struggles—in Guatemala, Peru, Argentina and many other places—to create another kind of society.
