Abstract

The decree expropriating the ejido lands of the municipality of Atenco, State of Mexico, to build an airport for the capital prompted a community response that went beyond the local and regional level to become one more link in the resistance to neoliberal projects. The defense of the land was the mobilizing slogan. The interview with one of the participants in this struggle focuses on the meanings that Atenco’s inhabitants attribute to the land and how it made it possible to articulate the different community actors.
